Greetings,
Well Boys and Girls, it is that time this is my last article as Grand Knight. First let me say what a pleasure it was to serve for the past three years, there were some bumpy roads but at least I had good shocks and springs. There are so many people to thank, and congratulate that I don't even know where to start. If I miss someone please don't take it to heart, because I LOVE ALL of you. First Jerry and Mary for keeping up with the bulletin, Miss Catherine for all of the monthly calls for FOM and KOM, thank you Miss C. All of the directors most of whom were there for my entire term as GK.

All of the officers that served with me you guys made me look really good. Too, my Pops Mr. Cliff I truly do not know what to say to you except thanks for everything, I love you.

Cathy Chauvin, you have a heart as big as all outdoors and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love and friendship.

Mary Ellen and Albert, for all the times you were there when I needed you and did not even have to ask. Red and Melissa for your help and love.

Mr. Mike thanks for keeping me current I know you have the toughest job of all.

Father Frank and Father Billy, for your prayers and informative talks and lectures.

My wonderful wife Geri thanks honey for all the love and understanding these past three years, you are truly the best part of me I LOVE YOU, Bob.

Last, but certainly not least AJ my brother I could not have made without you,THANK YOU so much for your friendship love, and camaraderie. I am sure that there have been other really great DGKs but I dare in anybody to try to find one and prove it to me. LOVE YA PAL.

Folks I could go on like this for ever, so please don't be upset if I missed you, you all are very special to me.

Too, the new officers my sincerest congratulations and promise I will help any and every way I can as DD and as member of  "1905". Roy you will find a lot of perplexing issues ahead of you and the best advice I can offer is do not be afraid to ask questions, we ALL WILL be there for you.

My Fellow Knights and Ladies Auxiliary

My thanks to my fellow knights.  I thank you for the confidence you have shown me for electing me to serve as your Grand Knight for the year 2008-2009.  I will do my very best to do the job you have elected me to do.  There are some programs that I will discuss with the other officers that will be serving with me.  All programs that we will plan to do will be done by committee with one person to head that committee.  They will report to me and it will be brought before the council for your acceptance.  I will do my best to work with the Ladies Auxiliary and I am sure they will in turn work with our council so that we will develop a unity between the two organizations.  More to come at a later date.

           Vivat Jesus!!!!

Have you ever heard the expression “lazy days of summer?”  While the hot weather may encourage a slower paced life, in many ways summer can be the busiest time of the year.  It is especially busy for parents with school-aged children.  And being busy, it’s easy to forget about such things as reviewing your life insurance coverage.

The purpose of this column is to encourage you to meet with me before the end of the summer.  Whether or not you have life insurance with the Order, I’ll be happy to meet with you and make sure your coverage continues to meet your needs and goals.  If you’ve had any life changes since you last bought a policy (new home, new child, new job, etc.), chances are your life insurance needs to be updated.  I’ll work with you to make sure you have the coverage you need at a price you can afford.

When we meet, you’ll discover that the time we spend together will be time well-spent.  Let’s get together soon.  Because summer is not only busy, it’s also coming to an end.

For insurance or investments, please contact your Knights of Columbus Insurance Agent, Chris Dufrene at 504-689-8032 or cell phone 504-495-3498.  Home address is 5215 Church Street, Lafitte, LA 70067

July 4th – Independence Day – FLY OUR FLAG

THE MEANING OF OUR FLAG

It means all that the Declaration of Independence meant.  It means all that the Constitution of our people, organizing for justice, for liberty and for happiness meant.

Our flag carries American ideas, American history and American feelings.  Beginning with the colonies, and coming down to our time, in its sacred heraldry, in its sacred insignia, it has gathered and stored, chiefly, this supreme idea: divine right to liberty in man.

Every color means liberty; every thread means liberty; every form of star and beam or stripe of light means liberty, not lawlessness, but organized institutional liberty-liberty through and laws for liberty!
